A tailor’s gift

August 9th, 2009

When you see the title, you may ask, what is the matter with the editor, do there have any relationship between the golfer and what.   Well, this tailor is famous, and his products is also awesome. And, we call the product as TaylorMade. This summer, the great brand have show you the great products, TaylorMade R9 Driver.   For the first time, you can buy a club that can change with you. Yes, the brilliant golfers can set it up for the course that they’re playing and hit it perfect every time but the real bonus is for the average golfer. This is a driver that can grow with you. You can keep it for years. One is the TaylorMade R9, which claimed that the user can affect the ball dispersion by up to 75 yards from left to right with an identical swing. As expected, you can hit the ball about 290 yards and around 20 yards left of the fairway. The ball had a definite right to left flight which looked great but we still had some tinkering to do.   Honestly, it's great, no matter it would be in the style, technology, looks and feeling. Maybe you have the image that you have a shot gun attached to the end of the stick. I uesed to be the fans of Tiger Woods, and the user of Nike.   We all generally want to have a golf club than can improve our poor swing, but this one is different, we can have the R9 to improve the swing.

Distance is the devil

August 8th, 2009

Distance is the Calcium of golf, everyone would like to fill. From theory to practice, from books to the coaches, from the greens range to the course, from the new Driver to swing simulator, a man obsessed with the increase of distance, no less than to increase a woman's ches. they want to cost everything for the distance.   Considering a wide range of business events, the first tee is always need for a long distance. Often next to overcrowding, a 1wood  go, movements smooth, elegant and the ball flew straight out, disappeared in the sight. Applause everywhere, screaming, attracting beauties' eyes, it is every man's dream in the world of golf. Sweet as long as the club fight, and score card on the left does not matter what the number really. Which club is the most expensive ing your bag? It is definitely the 1 wood. Which club do you changed with the highest frequency? It is mostly 1wood.   Distance is the money-burning. The money we spend in the 1wood can only be considered as the spark compared with the global golf industry, directly or indirectly, from the burning money, I have not seen the statistics, does not dare to estimate the hazard either, but certainly  the number is great. The latest technology from the aerospace materials, carbon fiber, titanium alloy to swing robot which cost tens of millions of dollars  ... ... Is there have any other game can cost so much as golf?   Improving the golf distance cost too much, the distance in golf is the devil. Our individual is almost going crazy for the distance, the global manufactuarers are almost going crazy for the distance.

Callaway Golf X-20 Tour Irons

August 7th, 2009

Callaway X-20 Tour Irons
If you have followed the evolution of the Callaway family of clubs, the X20's may the most technologically advanced irons that you can actually afford, a superb specimen that has some seriously popular genes in the blood, as the x14, x16 and x18 lineage can be seen and heard all over the X20's body. The more exotic members of the Cally iron family, such as the FT's or the Fusions have just too many add-ons, and too big a price tag!

The cavity back is deep and noticeable. The perimeter weigh distribution allows for some serious reposition of the CG back in the club, increasing the effective hitting area noticeably. My MX23' could only dream of such a big sweet spot! Now, you must also consider that there is a seriously big effort to provide more MOI, achieved via "extreme notch weighting" Callaway has made so popular. Made of 1020 stainless steel, they sure feel strong and muscular, but devoid of the wonderfully soft, buttery feel of high-end forgings. Tolerable? Absolutely. The X 20's do not stand out as harsh feeling sticks. I think they may be the sweetest feeling Cally's since the X forged!

Now, lets move on to the sole: do this sticks ever dig in? It is amazing the way they can work their way around rough and tight lies with ease. I was able to hit quite a few approaches from the rough that went up all the way into the green, and I think the weight and sole combination is a major cause of the improvement in this department: I usually miss short with my usual gear.

This stick won a gold medal in the latest Club Test of a major golf magazine, and considering the competition they faced...I find it quite amazing that such a beefy, thick stick could beat several player favorites.

Miracle Hybrid Clubs Will Lower Your Golf Score

August 6th, 2009

Many golfers struggle with the long irons as they are notoriously hard to hit. As a result many amateurs choose to shun them and give up a few shots in a round. But recent golf technology developments may well have solved this problem. Introducing the hybrid club a.k.a utility club a.k.a recovery club. This club has been revolutionising the game and if you've ever seen a golfer without his or her long irons in their bag then the chances are that they are using these instead. Lets have a look at exactly what they are and how they can help you lower your scores.

The term hybrid comes from the fact that the club combines the design of both the fairway woods and the irons. The shaft length is similar to an iron and the head is a cross between the fairway woods and the irons.

The key point to this club is that it is supposed to be easier to hit than a long iron without giving up distance. Sound good to you?

The design of the club head is such that there is a low centre of gravity. This has the effect of helping increase the height of the ball and reduces mishits. With the shaft being shorter than the fairway woods there is a greater element of control. However, you do get the benefit of forgiveness in the club similar to the woods so you are still able to generate distances equal to or greater than the long irons. For example, a well hit Hybrid 3 should play as long as a 2 iron. Add in the fact that the hybrid shot tends to land soft all comes together to produce a fantastic weapon to have in your bag.

Within the hybrid club range you also get 2 distinct types. One has a head which is more iron like and the other type has a head which is more fairway wood like. This caters to different types of player - it is generally accepted that the fairway wood type head is more suited to the less advanced amateur. You can also choose between graphite or steel shafts. Steel tends to be cheaper and heavier. The weight promotes greater control. The graphite shaft is lighter so is easier to generate club head speed - it is advisable for newer players or those with slow swing speeds to use this type of shaft to help increase distance.

The Hybrid should be treated as if it is an iron so you should swing accordingly (i.e hit down on the club in contrast to sweeping the ball as per a fairway wood/driver swing).

But it also has other uses. It holds its own off the tee, is a great option off the fairway for that long second shot (where you may have previously lost yardage by not using a long iron) and comes into

its own in the rough or bad lies. The reason for this last point is that the sole of the club is fatter but has a narrow face which is ideal for skimming through grass without getting caught up. This fact alone could revolutionise a high handicapper's game. It can even be used to chip around the green as the loft of the head varies between 15 to 21 degrees.

Ask around at your golf club and you will be surprised at how many converts there are. Its certainly the case that many now leave their 3,4 and even 5 iron at home with a set of hybrids as their welcome replacement. Such is the many uses of the club you may find that you end up using it far more than any other club in your bag!

The World’s Only Natural Island Green in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

August 5th, 2009

By: Jim Scherrer

Some historians trace the sport of golf back to the Roman game of paganica, in which participants used a bent stick to hit a stuffed leather ball; however, according to the most widely accepted account, the modern game originated in Scotland around the 12th century with shepherds knocking stones into rabbit holes on the current site of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. The actual sport became officially recognized in 1754 when the Scots formed the organization known as the Society of St Andrews Golfers.

Since then, the game has grown in popularity to the point where there are currently more than 32,000 courses worldwide, of which approximately 17,000 are in the United States. Golf is now rapidly gaining popularity in the newly developing countries like China where there are currently less than 300 courses, however hundreds more are under contract; either in the design phase or under construction.

Since golf courses have 18 holes, the 32,000 courses would have a total of 576,000 holes; so let’s assume there are 600,000 golf holes in the world. Each hole may have as many as five or more tee boxes (women, geezers, regular men, championship, pro, etc) but most have only one green. Therefore, we can assume there are at least 600,000 golf greens in the world.

Almost all of these greens are merely an extension of the fairway where the grass is mowed very short and the cup is placed. There are probably less than 1,000 of these 600,000 greens that are islands. In fact, most of these “island” greens are actually manmade peninsulas with a narrow walking path to the green. They are surrounded by water but are still connected to the course by the walking path. It is estimated that there exists only a few hundred greens in the world that are true islands, surrounded by water on all sides and connected to land by a bridge.

Now, for the really interesting fact; there is only one “natural island” green out of the 600,000 greens in the world. It is the third hole at the beautiful Pacifico Course at the Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, Mexico, located about 25 miles from Puerto Vallarta. This world class course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, meanders along the Banderas Bay and the Pacific Ocean with incredible views on almost every hole. It is such a magnificent tract that in 2008 it was named the top resort course in the world by Conde Nast magazine.

The third hole at the Pacifico course actually has two greens, #3a and #3b; the first is a normal green while the second is the natural island green. The island is a lava rock formation about 200 yards from the mainland that has access only when the tide is out. When the tide is in and the special amphibian cart is unavailable, the golfers play to the #3a green. When the tide is out and you have sufficient skill and an adequate supply of balls, the #3b green provides one of the most challenging and memorable par three holes in the world. This hole is commonly referred to as “The Tail of the Whale”.

For those of us that have been golfing for many years and have played hundreds of courses, there are only a few holes that leave memorable impressions that we’ll never forget. Most often these are very special holes that we’ve seen the pros play on television or holes that absolutely take your breath away as you stand on the tee box. These are generally the longer par 4 or par 5 holes with exaggerated elevation changes, beautiful mountain scenes, or over water tee shots. Very few par 3 holes leave such a memory, however #3b at the Pacifico course is definitely one of them; it’s a sight that you’ll never forget.

One of the most intimidating shots in golf is the approach shot to an island green surrounded by water; it leaves very little room for error! Now, try a 200 yard shot to an island green nestled in a lava rock formation that resembles a catcher’s glove out in the Pacific Ocean. If that’s not enough challenge, throw in a gentle breeze off the Sierra Madres or a nice gust of wind off the ocean and you’ll have your hands full; bring plenty of balls! (The tide was in and the amphibian cart was unavailable the day we played this hole; so after hitting the green with our tee shots, we merely gave each other the putts for birdies, left the balls on the green, and proceeded to the fourth hole!)

The scenic Pacifico course at Punta Mita will soon be joined by the almost completed Bahia course, also designed by Jack Nicklaus and also having incredible Pacific Ocean and Banderas Bay views with the city and the Sierra Madres as a back drop. Another brand new course located in Litibu, only a couple miles north along this stretch of the Mexican Riviera, is the brand new Litibu Golf Club course that was designed by Greg Norman.

These three beautiful courses located along the Riviera Nayarit, combined with the other six fine courses in Puerto Vallarta, make the region a true golfing destination. There are also a number of new courses in the planning stages that will, in all probability, bring the total to more than a dozen resort courses for visitors to play in Greater Vallarta within three years.

Ten years ago, you would seldom see golf bags arriving at the small international airport in Puerto Vallarta; this is no longer the case, with the baggage carrousels at the huge modern new airport terminal delivering golf bags all day every day, as the golfing tourists flock to this golfing Paradise south of the border.

So, if you golfers want to have the time of your life, bring your sticks to PV where you’ll find seven months of monotonous winter weather, from November through May, when the average daily temperature is 73*F with virtually no rain. You’ll have nine incredible courses to play and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to include the unforgettable #3b hole at Pacifico; the hole with the world’s only natural island green.

PING G15 Irons

August 5th, 2009

The long awaited PING G15 Irons have finally come out and golfers all around the world are breathless about the new set of clubs. PING has been one of the top golf club brands for the past fifty years. Due to their constant efforts to innovate the way golf clubs are made, professional golfers and casual golfers both love purchasing and using their clubs.

This set of irons was designed with medium to high handicap golfers in mind. If you want to hit your golf balls high into the air and make them fly straight towards your desired target, this is the set of irons for you. Those who have been privileged with the opportunity to test the clubs all attest to its excellent performance. But, what makes all this possible for the G15 Irons?

First of all, the Ping G15 iron face is thinner than previous iron models allowing for substantial weight to be added to the toe of the club – this weight redistribution produces a higher MOI which is obviously the name of the game when it comes to forgiveness on off-centre hits.

The face of each iron is thinner than ever before making the club seven grams lighter. Meanwhile, the center of gravity of the irons has been moved closer to the club’s head. This concentration of weight at the bottom of the clubs has resulted in increased moment of inertia, higher shot trajectory, and less ball spin..

The sole of the G15 is slightly wider in design which also helps to pull the CG lower and deeper which helps the golfer to get the ball in the air.

Another innovation is how the custom tuning port was moved further away from the face of the club’s head. Now, you can execute more stable shots with better distance control. This makes each golf shot you make more accurate and less likely to veer left or right, unless you really meant for these to do so.

A redesigned full cavity graphics badge at the club’s face makes your golf swing more comfortable. It gives your swing a better and more solid sound as well. If you have tried using the bestselling PING G10 Irons in the past then you will be glad to know that the G15 performs and looks much better than its predecessor.
